Antique Anatolian Engraved Copper Panel – 29.5cm

Our product is entirely handcrafted. It is made from 1 mm thick copper.

The motifs in this painting particularly bear the traces of copper craftsmanship in Anatolian lands. Copper is hammered into shape before being worked on. The engravings on the painting are done using a penwork/engraving method on copper. This style of painting was generally common in Anatolia or the Middle East in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Our master craftsman produced this in the 1970s using symbols from that era. The engravings on the painting symbolize the order of the universe, eternity, and divine order. In some places, geometric shapes used during the Seljuk period have been incorporated into the painting. This penwork on copper, very common in Anatolia and the Middle East, was recently used by a master craftsman to create this painting. The curvilinear plant patterns seen on the outer frame of the painting are in the Rumi and Arabesque styles. This style was once one of the most characteristic types of ornamentation in Anatolian lands. It generally represents the infinity of nature, paradise gardens, fluidity, and continuity.
